Top 10 of 2022

Somehow or other, I never got around to posting—on my own dang website, anyway—my Top 10 albums of 2022. And now it’s time for the 2023 list to go up. Oops. So here’s a quick-and-dirty post to show what made last year’s list.

Here’s the usual reminder that my tastes tend to run to the rootsy, especially to alt-country (is that still a thing?) and Americana (was that ever a thing?). But, hey, I’ve got some range. You’ll see.

10. The Liar, John Fullbright

9. Tonkori in the Moonlight, OKI

8. The United States of the Broken Hearted by Jeb Loy Nichols

7. Drive-By Truckers’ Welcome 2 Club XIII

6. Why Don’t You Dance by Holm

5. Amaryllis/Belladonna, Mary Halvorson

4. Bronco, Orville Peck

3. Take It Like a Man by Amanda Shires

2. True North by Caroline Spence

1. Joe Rainey’s Niineta
